On Influence: Don’t wait for tomorrow
Don’t wait for tomorrow. Be a positive influence now. Raise your voice. Share your message today.
When I think about the power of speaking and personal influence, I often think about Eleanor Roosevelt, who addressed the public weekly for 60 years.
It wasn’t an office, a high rank, or a vast fortune she relied on to be a remarkable influence. She simply spoke about the truths that occurred to her daily. She shared her thoughts and encouragements through the dark days of the Depression, and global war, into the modern era of widespread peace and prosperity, eventually earning the designation as First Lady of the World, an author, and deliverer of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
She said of her own path and the purpose of the document, “My hope is that one day we can look into the eyes of all human beings and treat them with dignity.”
Because of her weekly addresses, she was a constant voice and presence and left us not only a trail of wisdom on specific topics covering the span of decades but also a path to follow as influencers.
Don’t wait to “arrive” at success before sharing the insight that can make a difference for those whom you aspire to motivate, educate, inspire, and serve.
Today’s wisdom shared, multiplied by thousands are threads that weave the tapestry of your legacy of influence.
Share your thoughts daily. Record them. Muse on what matters most as it arises. Craft the message that arises from life’s lessons. Find the medium that fits. Journal, blog, videotape, podcast- open the line of communication.
Don’t wait for tomorrow.
Create your own trail of wisdom for others to follow.
