Terrible advice for starting a Brand… Stop “trying to be original”

Terrible advice on creating a Brand…

I was chatting with a friend yesterday about her company and the conversation veered to Branding.

My friend was truly discouraged as she repeated what a branding coach told her,
“Your brand has to be something no one in your area is doing.” This idea put her into a tailspin of self-doubt and inactivity promoting herself.

I’d like to talk about why this coaches’ approach to branding is unworkable (and totally stinks) and what you should focus on instead.

Your Brand is a community you create where you attract like-minded people with a unique philosophy.

READ: You don’t have to be the most original person in the universe to have a great Brand.

When you try too hard to be original, you get strained and people can’t connect with the natural part of you that they really like.

TRUTH: Your vision for your customer is the most powerful foundation for a Brand. What is the ideal that unifies you and them? Empowerment, personal freedom, abundance, peace of mind, expression?

The Best Brands are built on philosophy

Did you know that 80% of the clothes you wear are made in the same manufacturing plants?  What transforms clothing from ordinary pants into a Brand like Nike, is the philosophy they share with their customers. They didn’t reinvent clothing or shoes and neither do you!

Just do it. That’s a real person’s message of courage to do what you set out for today.

The greatest guide for creating your Brand is to clarify what you want to give your customer that makes their life better in one specific way that only matters to the community you form.

When you wake up in the morning, what is your burning desire?

Never worry about the things you don’t have- they don’t matter.

Define and share your philosophy today to start or grow your powerful Brand with vision.
